Play Baccarat – A Simple, Fun Game, With Good Odds

If you play baccarat you will be participating in a game that is easy to learn, is good fun and has surprisingly good odds.

Here we will look at the rules for playing baccarat and some strategies that will soon have you playing like a pro.

The goal when playing Baccarat is simply to draw a two or three card hand with a value closer to 9 than the banker’s hand.

The Value of the Cards

When you play baccarat the cards have the following values

o Numbered cards have their face value.

o 10, Jack, Queen and King count as 0.

o Ace counts as 1.

o If the value of your cards is more than ten, you subtract 10. So a 8-9 hand totals 7 (after subtracting 10 from 17)

Playing baccarat

Two hands are dealt one for the Banker and one for the Player. Before the deal, the player wagers on whether the Player’s hand or the Banker’s hand is closest to the total of 9. The player also has the option to wager on a tie i.e. both hands are of the same value

Baccarat is a card game that is dealt from a shoe that holds 6 or 8 decks. Before the hands are dealt, bets may be placed.
Once bets have been placed, the banker hand and the player hand are dealt according to fixed rules, giving final hands of either two or three cards for each.

The value of a hand is determined by adding the values of its cards to get a total. Tens and face cards are counted as zero, while all other cards are counted by the number of “pips” on the card face.

Only the last digit of the total is used, so all baccarat hands have values in the range 0 to 9 inclusive. The hand with the higher value wins; if the hands have the same value, the result is of course a tie.

Sequence of play

When playing baccarat a game is started by dealing two cards for the player hand and two cards for the bank hand. An initial hand with a value of 8 or 9 is called a “natural.”

If either hand is a natural, its holder must expose it and the game is over.

If this does not occur play continues, first with the player hand and then with the banker hand, according to the following rules.

Rules for the player hand: If the player’s first two cards total 6 or more, then the player must stand without drawing a card. If the player’s first two cards total 5 or less, the player must draw one additional card.

Rules for the banker hand: If the banker’s first two cards total 7 or more, then the banker must stand without drawing a card. If the banker’s first two cards total 0, 1, or 2, then the banker must draw one card. If the banker’s first two cards total 3, 4, 5, or 6, then whether the banker draws is determined by the whether the player drew, and if so the value of the player’s draw card, as shown below.

Bets

Banker: 1- 1 (5% commission to the house)

Player: 1 -1

Tie: 8 -1

There is only one good bet in baccarat and that’s the banker.

When you play baccarat increase your chances of winning by:

1. Number of decks: Choose the game with as few decks as possible.

2. Commission: Look for the casino that charge a commission on banker bets lower than 5% if you can find one.

3. Bet on the banker. This bet has the lowest house edge and is the one to go for.

4. Money management. Work out the plan for the gaming session and follow it, don’t spend more money than you should chasing loses.

5. Don’t use baccarat systems. It is futile to base your gaming decisions on results of previous bets.
Follow the above guidelines and when you play baccarat you will not only have fun, but also have a strategy that can increase your odds of success.

Plastic Poker Cards

When playing cards first appeared on the scene more than five hundred years ago, they were made of paper and some of the more primitive varieties were made out of scrap paper that people had lying around. Today, we find that there are plenty of poker card decks to be had, and they are often not made out of paper any more!

Playing cards these days may be made of thick cardstock that has a protective film applied, they might be coated in plastic or they might simply be made of plastic themselves! When you are considering plastic poker cards, there are a number of things that you need to keep in mind, so consider what your options are going to be.

The first thing that you need to think about when you are looking at plastic poker cards is how they feel. There is virtually no difference between the weight and feel of a plastic card and the weight and feel of a standard card made of cardstock. Plastic poker cards are typically made to the same size and they feel very comfortable in the hand.

They can be a little stiff, but most people will never notice as they shuffle. You will also find that plastic cards will slide nicely over the felt and that you never have to worry about snags or tears with these cards. What are the advantages that you can get when you are looking at plastic?

In the first place, you will find that you are not going to need to worry about replacing these cards every time soon. If you are dedicated poker player, you know how fast paper cards can wear out. They get shuffled, they get arranged, and the moment one card can stand out from the others, no matter which card it is, professional players and even casual players will rule the deck worthless.

When you are thinking about poker cards and how you can get the most out of them, remember that plastic decks are not going to be so easy to destroy and if you play a lot of poker with your friends, it could very easily be worth it.

When you are looking at plastic poker cards, you will also find that they are going to be easy to wash. If you have ever dealt with messy friends or with grease spots getting on your cards, you have been frustrated by how difficult these stains to remove.

Even with plastic coated cards, a break in the seal can cause the paper underneath to absorb stain. Take some time and consider what your options are going to be when you are thinking about moving to plastic cards, which can be wiped off with some soapy water and a dishcloth. It really can make things a great deal easier for you, so think about how you are going to be able to move forward.

When you are thinking about putting together a great poker table for your friends and family, don’t forget to think about the card. Consider what your needs are going to be when you are thinking about moving forward and getting the right look and consider how plastic playing cards might suit you.

Top 10 Online Casinos

Trying to find a good online casino can often be a daunting task. With so many choices out there, how do you know which ones are safe, secure, and honest? To assist you in your search, I’ve compiled a Top 10 list of online casinos. In order to put the list together, I looked at payout percentage, bonuses, customer reviews, and online rankings. You can gamble at any of these casinos with the knowledge that you’ll be treated fairly.

10. Party Casino – Owned by the folks at Party Poker, this online casino was opened in 2006. They use their own gaming software, and, while it may not be as good as PlayTech or MicroLogic, it’s still more than adequate. If you already have a Party Poker account, you can join instantly. One knock, however, is that their bonus match is very low compared to some other casinos (25% compared to anywhere from 100% to 400%).

9. Club Dice Casino – In business since 2001, Club Dice has over 70 games for your enjoyment. Live dealers are available, and there are at least 10 progressive jackpots with very nice payouts. Their PlayTech software makes for a visually stunning gaming experience, and their VIP club is known to be very impressive. Customer service is also a strength, as they had no player disputes at all in the year of 2004 (which is virtually unheard of).

8. Vegas Red – An online casino which caters to both U.S. and international players, Vegas Red allows gamblers to select from 10 different languages. Their new player bonuses are some of the largest ever, and their progressive jackpots have paid out some truly impressive prizes. They don’t have a comp program, but this is not a major fault considering everything else that they do offer. The graphics are sharp, with many tables and backgrounds colored in warm red hues.

7. Spin Palace Casino – With over 100 games to choose from, Spin Palace truly is a gamers paradise. They are especially known for their slots and poker tables. Their video poker selection is also excellent, with a selection of regular and power games, as well as numerous 10 play games. Customers can access their financial history at any time, which is especially handy should a dispute arise (which is unlikely). Microgaming software provides excellent graphics and sound, and players can browse the site in 4 different languages (as well as gamble in 4 different currencies).

6. Monaco Gold Casino – If you think of yourself as a high roller, then you should be playing at Monaco Gold. Their selection of games may not be as large as other casinos, but their bonuses and progressives are out of this world. They also offer some rare games like Derby Day and Megaball. The graphics are excellent, and everything about this casino is classy.

5. Gaming Club Casino – This casino has 11 progressive jackpots to choose from, and you even get free cash back every time you play. They offer a rare free money bonus, and their Video and Power poker are some of the best around. The Microgaming software provides an excellent experience, and players can choose to play at normal or high roller tables. It’s a solid and versatile casino.

4. Intercasino – The oldest casino on the Internet, it has been voted “Best Online Casino” for 4 straight years. In their history, they have paid out over 3 billion dollars to customers, so you know that they’re secure. Their selection of games is good, and their VIP and incentive programs are also excellent.

3. Riverbelle Casino – One of the oldest around, Riverbelle offers a massive 160 games (and counting). They even have hard to find games like Scratch Card. They are known for fast payouts, which is always a plus. They have a free $25 no deposit bonus for new players, and their VIP and customer loyalty programs are excellent. Their customer service is also top of the line.

2. Carnival Casino – A colorful and fun casino, Carnival also offers a wide array of casino games. Online since 2003, they offer bets as low as $1 and sometimes as high as $300. Their monthly promotions are generous and ensure repeat customers. Their chat features allow you to talk with other players, and the customer service is very impressive. Their selection of games (61) is smaller than some casinos, but they make up for it with solid service and content.

1. Golden Palace Casino – Online since 1997, Golden Palace is the most well known online casino due to their creative self-promotion (including hiring streakers and boxers to paint the Golden Palace logo on their backs). While some find this is poor taste, the casino consistently delivers in the area of games, bonuses, and quick payouts. With over 5 million customers, you know that your gaming experience will be a safe and reliable one. They even feature a separate poker room for fans of games like Texas Hold’em.
